Vapor Barrier Shower Walls Tile
A vapor or moisture barrier is a layer of protection that is designed to act as a waterproof shield helping to keep condensation away from wood insulation and other mold prone materials that are located behind the drywall.
Vapor barrier shower walls tile. Use a minimal amount of staples to secure the vapor barrier to the walls studs. Water vapor is water in a gas form. Run the height of the vapor barrier from the top all the way down into the shower pan make sure not cut too short before the water barrier. Steam stays in a gas form until it cools down or hits a barrier such as a shower door tile ceiling or a mirror.
In a shower situation you recognize it as steam. A seam in an acrylic shower or a cracked grout joint or some missing caulk in a tile shower are all that is needed to let moisture get behind your shower enclosure. Use appropriate tape to adhere two pieces of vapor barrier and edges to avoid moisture entry to the back walls. Water vapor that gets behind walls or travels up through light fixtures or hvac grilles into an attic will turn back into water when it cools off.
